The first time I had a shred of concern was just before my son’s first birthday, when I tried to teach him to say my sister’s name — “Jo-Jo”.
He wouldn’t even try to say it.
By the time he reached 18-months-old, the ‘worry voice in my head’ had become much louder. Why wasn’t he talking like other kids the same age? What was wrong?
And so began our journey, and I experienced firsthand the challenges, the heartache, and the desperate desire to do everything in my power to help my child. It’s ultimately why I made the choice to change my career late in life, and become a speech language pathologist.

Nowadays, I spend all of my professional working hours helping small children improve their communications from my Speech Pathology practice, located in the Gold Coast, Australia.
