Our live streams are intended to provide parents with answers to their questions.
There are multiple ways parents can choose to interact with us during our live streams: asking an anonymous question prior to the live stream, by posting a comment during a live stream, or by asking a question and choosing to appear live on our broadcast.
Please review the details below, so you can understand the differences between these options, as well as what can and cannot be covered on a live stream.
For each live stream, we will promote a private YouTube link to all course members. Private YouTube link means only people with the link can access. Once the live stream is complete, we'll put the recording into the member's area, with details of what has been discussed.
Within the members area of the parents and carers course, there is a live stream section with a link to a question submission form. While completing the form, you can choose either to remain anonymous, or to appear live.
If you choose to remain anonymous and we select your question to be answered by Carissa, we will display your question and first name only during the broadcast.
If you choose to appear live and we select your question to be answered by Carissa, we may invite you to appear live on our broadcast.
Additionally, during the live stream, you may use the comments facility of our chosen platform (e.g. YouTube), to ask further questions of Carissa upon the subject she is talking about.
As anyone with the private YouTube link can access the livestream, you should assume that by participating that anyone can view its contents. We try to maximise privacy by removing the YouTube live stream once the recording has been downloaded and put into the members area, but privacy is in no way assured.
If you comment on a live stream, others will be able to see your comments and that you're an attendee.
If you wish to remain anonymous (except your first name and your question), you can simply watch the recording.
Our aim is to provide the course and live streams far and wide (mainly Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, Canada, and the USA—but there are no restrictions) in an effort to help as many parents as possible.
We want to answer as many questions as we possibly can, and to achieve this we may group similar questions together. So, even if you're willing to participate, you may not be invited onto the stream. The live streams are purposefully done in a group format, so that all parents can learn from other questions. Of course, this means that some questions/answers may be more or less relevant to you than others.
We cannot perform any kind of diagnosis for your child, simply because we won't have the individual assessment capability that a person-to-person consultation would provide. That said, we may be able to give you some pointers toward the type of help you should seek.
Additionally, we cannot provide speech therapy services on a live stream. To do so would be overreach of our professional capability.
We're doing the live streams to help parents as much as we possibly can.
Carissa will answer questions about applying the topics of the Parents & Carers Course as it relates to a child. She may also recommend the seeking of professional services such as Speech Language Pathology, as well as sharing general techniques that Speech Language Pathologists use to help children talk.
You can access the live streams for free as part of the Parents & Carers Course
